On Saturday, October 28 2017, the Lagos literary community and art enthusiasts will gather for a day of incisive discussion on books, creativity and the intersection of literature and the Nigerian economy at the National Theater, Iganmu.

The Imbubé African Book Festival and Award is a one-day celebration of African arts and literature, and discussions on the impact of literature in the continent. It will feature TED style talks by prominent members of the literary community, panel discussions on different literary activities, award sessions for short story writers, exhibitions and book signings.

Imbubé, which is the Zulu word for lion, is a reference to the critical role literature has come to play in telling the African story, ensuring that stories from the continent are told and read by her people.

Keynote: Professor Hope Eghaghaveteran author and head of department of English, University of Lagos

This year, which is the maiden edition of the Imbubé African Book Festival and Award, will feature a diverse range of speakers from different genres. The speakers/panelist include: Toni Kan, PR executive and author of The Carnivorous City; Okechukwu Ofili, author and CEO of Okada Books; Adebola Williams, author and CEO of Red Media Africa; Edirin Edewor, multiple Amazon bestselling author; Enajite Efemuaye, Managing Editor, Kachifo Limited; Ini Akpan, Chief Editor, SW Advantage Resources, Silas Okwoche, co-founder, Nerve Mobile; Steve Harris, author and life coach; amongst several others.

There will also be book readings, signings and exhibitions by publishers & book sellers. In addition, there’ll be poetry, muisc and spoken word performances by Benny Finisher, Maka, O.J.Wyte, Banku, Stom Al-Madusi (Kenya) and others.
